Being on school holidays, it’s a great time to get out and explore. The weather was in my favour too! So it was time to pack the snacks and water and go for a drive to the You Yangs.
I put Poppy in the car and we headed off.
The You Yangs are about an hour west of the Melbourne CBD. In the park I love going to Flinders Peak as it gives an amazing view of the bay. You can see the Peninsula, Dandenong’s, Brisbane Ranges and Geelong very easily.
The hike to the top is about 1hr return, it is a bit steep and there are steps. Definitely take water as there are no taps.
There is another 6km hike around the mountain, it takes around 1.5 hours. We didn’t do it that day as Poppy was a little bit tired. It’s certainly pencilled in for another day.
You may even be lucky enough to see some wild life!
The view from the top is just as spectacular.
I highly recommend this little day trip, just remember to take some water and take your time. Enjoy it!
