Phakding (2610m) and Namche Bazaar (3440m)

Its been a long few days, on our last night the tour guide took us out to a place for dinner, subsequently a few of us got sick. It certainly made flying into Lukla airport a lot more interesting.

If you have never heard of Lukla airport, i’d suggest having a look at youtube and watching a few videos of landings. Its infamously known as one of the most dangerous airports in the world due to the short runway and steep descent.

We did a walk from Lukla to our first stop of Phakding, it was so extremely tiring. Not because of the hike itself but because of how unwell I felt. The food poisoning hit hard and there was no chance of downtime. I couldn’t eat, could barely drink and struggled to walk. When we got to Phakding (1pm) I slept until 6pm, had a few roast potatoes, went back to sleep and woke up this morning at 6am.  I felt a whole lot better but still couldn’t eat much.

Today we Hiked to Namche Bazaar. It was a beautiful walk, but again; difficult due to feeling so sick. However the town itself is very nice and there are lots of shops and mountains to look at. When we arrived we got to see an avalanche on a mountain a few km away.

Tomorrow we have an acclimatisation day (I have been fine with the altitude so far) so there will be some free time to explore!
